Since 2020, Bosham Village Friends (BVF) has been organised by Chris Hitchings as part of the Bosham Monday Club Transport Committee, which runs the Monday Club Minibus.
BVF is for those who need transport for medical and related reasons, offering one phone number which can access a network of volunteers who would provide this in their own cars. It was set up in 2003 by Jan Emerson and Jennifer Fidler and, under various leaders, serviced villagers until 2020, when the pandemic made it unsafe and BISCuit became the help centre for the elderly of the village.
As pandemic restrictions were eased, the service was re-established, incorporating some of the BISCuit volunteers. We have also re-engineered the allocation of requests to volunteers, which is now via a WhatsApp group. This is proving much more efficient than the prior ringing around.
Calls to the help-line are back to pre-pandemic levels at around 200 per year from around 25 users. We have 18 volunteer drivers but could always do with more.
The BVF number remains 07981 794723.
